Motivation – the direction and intensity of effort
Three types of motivation
- achievement motivation
- motivation in the form of competitive stress
- intrinsic and extrinsic
Direction of effort motivation – when the individual seeks out, approaches or
is attracted to certain situations.
Intensity of effort motivation – refers to how much effort an individual put
fourth in a situation.
Both of these can be over done to the point where they are harmful to the
athlete and take away from they’re game.
Approaches to motivation
The best way to understand motivation is to consider both the person and
the situation and how the two interact.
