Distinguish between the external and internal environments of the body - External (continuous with the external environment) Respirator Digestive Urinary Reproductive - Internal Nervous Muscular Endocrine (a system of glands) 3. Define homeostasis - The ability of the body to maintain a relatively constant internal environment. A dynamic, self-regulatory process involving all organs, tissues and cells of the body 4. Describe negative feedback control systems - A stimulus triggers a response which decreases the stimulus A change in a controlled variable (temperature) triggers a response that drives the variable in theopposite direction Once the variable is back at the set point the response loop shuts off 5. Fill in flowchart of negative feedback loop by labelling its components Set Point --> Control centre --> Effector Sensor
