What"s good for planet earth is good for human beings. Its about communities sustaining themselves in a way that allows the planet to survive. Since the enlightenment, what is considered truthful is what matches with science, eg. if science says the earth is getting warmer (global warming) then we have to pay attention to it. Greek word that comes from oikos = household/habitat. Body of ideas that focuses on our habitat and its wellbeing. Ecology is a branch of biology, as ecologists look at the relation between plants and animals and their habitats. Rests on recording and observing facts where ideas are neutral and opinions don"t influence the word. Normative approach (what ought to be, should be) Human beings are part of the structure, not at the top of the system. For some ecologists, our habitat is the key as it sustains us (we can only exist in a habitat) The personal is very political for ecologists (feminist phrase)
