Satisfy people that they can get change without the beginning of a regime. By how much: how people feel about democracy: Choose parties (perhaps also candidates - rank order) Winner takes all (just need to win by higher vote) Winner takes some (take the votes of the people and the divide it up - take the vote and use it as a way to divide it amongst the candidates) First past the post - a plurality of votes win the seat. Cons: disproportionate results, manufactures governing majorities, wasted votes.
