Objected to liberal emphasis on self-interest, competition and individual liberty. Human beings are by nature social or communal creatures and do not live or work in. Cooperation not competition between people is necessary in a functioning society. No particular value assigned to culture or tradition. No view of need for private property. Private property is the source of class divisions that place people in positions of power and privilege while condemning others to poverty and powerlessness. Call for programs that will distribute wealth and power more evenly throughout society (levelling) All products are social products and therefore every person who participates in producing the good is entitled to take a share in it. Society as a whole not individuals therefore should own and control property for the benefit of all.
