on its way from Hong Kong to Jakarta

crash landed on the water
majority – journalists on board, some members of Chinese delegation
obomb explosion – identified – occurred in the baggage compartment of the plan
oTarget – Chinese premier Zhou Enlai
oWhy destroy the Indian Aircraft?
Plane was originally supposed to carry the Chinese premier to a conference in
Changed plans last minute – prior knowledge of the attack
Plane, owned by India, rented by Communist China
oWhy target Zhou Enlai?
Third most important leader in China – Mao Zedong top
Chinese Communist Party
oStruggle between CCP & GMD/KMT (1924-49)
