Hobbes on modern sovereignty & the social contract part 2. The social contract only exists because we agree to it. If people are self-interested, how do people sit down & agree to have less rights & freedoms than someone else. You cannot back out: women may not have signed the contract or agreed to it, but it was imposed or forced upon them. Gender parity in the state of nature. Does not believe that men have dominion over women. Right to control their children & fathers do not have this right. Crucial to the new logic of the leviathan. This turns them into subjects (not a good thing) The status of motherhood puts women at risk because they are at a disadvantage due to the fact that they have someone that is dependent on them (can"t protect just yourself, but your child) Explanation on where leviathan comes from & why it is justified.
