Contract out a lot of responsibility (e. g. Little public ownership (do not have crown corporations in the us) Advantage: efficiency (the market is more efficient than the government) Disadvantage: oversight (who provides oversight, who controls them) People traded things for goods that they wanted. Had to massively expand the military, severe administrative weaknesses. Government activism (from the depression and world war ii): Needs more people to run them (social security, public works, highway system, dams) Supreme court (serve public interest = discretion):
