Document Summary

Operational definition: defining a concept or variable in terms of the specific procedures used to produce or measure it. Demand characteristics: refers to an experimental artifact where participants form an interpretation of the experiment"s purpose and subconsciously change their behavior to fit that interpretation. Ex: someone getting very drunk but not having any liquor in his or her body but it"s the expectation therefore they act in the drunk sort of way (expectation effect) Double blinded studies: blind to the manipulation, which participant has had something done to them, creates a bias. Experimental control: a scientific control is an experiment or observation designed to minimize the effects of variables other than the independent variable. This increases the reliability of the results, often through a comparison between control measurements and the other measurements. Replication: repeat it the way you do it before, if you can do it once you can do it again.
