How much time do people spend at the different intensities that are required for that particular sport. Basketball: times when people are racing up and down the sport, times when they are being inactive (free-throw) Also has to do with how much recovery time you have. Recovery times is going to dictate the possible intensities that people can perform at. The more time you have between efforts, the greater your ability to perform at a higher level is going to be. Work to rest ratio= how much time spent working/ how much time spend in rest or recovery. Basketball= 1/3. 75 --> for every minute the players are performing, they have 3. 75 minutes of recovery time. Any max. effort that is less than 60 seconds is going to become more aerobic. Max. effort that is above 60 seconds is going to become more and more anaerobic. Rugby players have high aerobic capacity- lots of running around.
