Ipp studies mechanisms of change for specific aspects of cognition. Sees the mind as a complex symbol-manipulating system information from the environment flows through. Ex) it is a computer and computer-like diagrams/flowcharts map the exact series of problem solving. It is an old model that is still used. Sensory register (store: large capacity of information, decays quickly (few seconds, attention helps guide the info we want to keep in short- term/working memory, central executive makes sure you are paying attention to the correct stuff. We retain attended-to information briefly so we can actively (cid:498)work(cid:499) on it to reach our goals.
