Diagnosic criteria are used to score each item on a 3-point scale according to the extent to which it applies to the individual. Many students are surprised to ind that this is maybe the most important part of the assessment. Used to obtain historical informaion (educaion, occupaion, family, etc. ) relevant to scoring of the pcl-r. Do you need an interview: valid pcl-r raings can be made solely on the basis of collateral informaion if there is suicient high-quality informaion available. Total scores (0-40) are highly reliable and valid and relect the degree to which the individual matches clinical and research concepions of the prototypical psychopath.
