Functions for stimulating and maintaining the secondary sex characteristics, such as beard growth, maintaining the genitals and their sperm-producing capability, and bone and muscle growth: gonads are the sex glands (testes in males, ovaries in females) Inhibin - substance secreted by the testes and ovaries that regulate fsh levels: theoretical interest because it works as a male contraceptive in a way; it suppresses fsh production which in turn suppresses sperm production.
