Document Summary
Rubber hand illusion: rubber hand being stroked; visual system overrides the tactile system. Rubber hand begins to feel as if it"s part of the body. Individuals with schizophrenia cannot attend to one thing: all other information cannot be filtered out. If stimuli is threatening, people will quickly focus their attention on that stimuli. Hansen & hansen (1988) found that people respond more quickly to angry- looking faces in a crowd compared to smiling faces. No matter what culture, we will express emotions in the same way. Fundamental facial emotions: seven emotions: surprise, fear, disgust, anger, happiness, sadness, contempt. Unique link between particular emotions and specific facial expressions. We hide or mask our expressions of emotion: e. g. , trying not to laugh when someone trios. We modulate our expressions of emotion: e. g. , laughing hysterically at a joke that"s only a little funny. We simulate emotions: e. g. , expressing sorrow when we are not sorry.
