Leader characteristics leader effectiveness. Contemporary leadership theories: leader- member exchange (lmx) theory, implicit leadership theory, neo- charismatic theories / transformational leadership. Universal approaches: a general model. Reviewed literature to identify traits associated with effectiveness among corporate executives. Personality & leadership: a meta- analysis. Initiating structure and consideration are independent dimensions. Prediction: most effective leaders would be high on both. Findings: no consistent relations found between either dimension and effectiveness (except consideration and satisfaction) However, modern findings provide a somewhat different picture.
