Narrowly defined, prostitution: sale of sexual services (or oneself or another) for money or goods and w/out emotional attachment. Broadly defined, systems of prostitution: any industry in which women"s, men"s, and children"s bodies are bought, sold, or traded for sexual use i. e. porn, live sex shows, peep shows, international sexual slavery, and prostitution. Some advocates have suggested that prostitution should be viewed as a legit career choice, but others have argued that it is rooted in global gender inequality (prostitutes as victims of oppression, as most are women) In terms of prostitution being canada"s oldest profession, it is not: though there were some interpretations that describe prostitution-like relations among indigenous people, sex work was not actually introduced in canada until. Europeans began to settle here: early writings about the canadian sex trade are limited to females who were in the public eye. The past 3 decades have seen the industrialization, normalization, and globalization of prostitution.
