Sociology 2151 lecture #3: human beings are nomadic people and they move around and develop. Agricultural revolution - the mix of tech change and the environment. Some think it was jericho or mesopotamia: most of the early cities no longer exist b/c of climate, natural disasters and variety of other factors. In the 1st century rome was the most populous city: cities have their ups and downs. Iraq 8000 years ago was a very modernized place and now it is not: there were no countries back then only city states. 2000-3000 years ago greek cities came about: there were fraternity back then. It means brotherhood: the city state didn(cid:495)t really have kings or queens. You don(cid:495)t vote to elect someone, everyone gets to vote. Only people who were born in the city got to vote. It(cid:495)s a priestesses and they could still have a lot of power but they couldn(cid:495)t vote: agora you could barter or trade.
