Northern countries have higher fertility while southern countries have lower fertility) Latin america, asia, and the caribbean have close to replacement fertility levels. Africa has persistently high fertility stage 2 of demographic transition. There are more births than deaths w/ positive natural increase resulting in population growth. One of the countries with the highest population growth rate is niger. Fertility decline has started in most african countries, but it has stalled. Policy makers want to enhance the fertility transition.
