Better to stay in a marriage than separate . Figure they won"t get the children if they separate. May be at a point where you think you won"t ever have to get divorced. May not be a part of the reality yet (average age of marriage is 27) Does not mean that the other 50% are falling a part. A greater risk but not inevitable. Most children will live with their mother as a single mother for a period of time and then possibly a step-parent. Problems w/ children in single-parent families have the same problems as children in two- parent families who are poor. Many people say they wish they"re parents had gotten divorced because they made their children miserable. It is now better for parents to separate if they"re in an unhealthy living environment. 15-29 year olds is higher than would be predicted. Age 50+ years is the highest because they often have the older way of thinking.
