Gotha programme was created by a socialist political party and this is marx and engels critique. 1) labour is the source of all wealth. Not true, nature is also a source of wealth. This would entail that no society is possible without labour. 2nd part argues that no useful" labour is possible without society. Useful labour is basically being a savage. 2) instruments of labour are the monopolies of the landowners and the capitalists. Capitalist is not usually the actual landowner the factory is on. But system is unequal because different people can get different amounts. People have to provide more labour to get more. Ex. person with many children vs. person alone. Antithesis between more or less labour socialist. From each according to his ability to each according to his needs. Economic production and the structure of society of every historical epoch constitute the foundation for the political and intellectual history of that epoch.
