Every society (mode of production) has a base and a superstructure. Throughout history, other than the first mode of production, all forms of human societies has been based on exploitation and therefore alienation. Every social organization has destroyed all the elements of what we are logically as human beings. We labor: exploitation interferes with this. If were alienated, then what this means for marx is that we are alienated from: Exploitation: the extraction of surplus value of the labor of the worker. Machines: buys the raw materials -- cotton. He produces 20 pounds of yarn from 20 pounds of cotton no waste. Machine depreciation: : cotton sells at 80 cents/pound. Owner acquires the capital through profit, which allows him to increase efficiency, productivity, and therefor increase complexity of divisions of labor (ultimately increasing alienation) Explains why exploitation, alienation and power and here and why it may become destroyed.
