Most crime is committed by those with drug/alcohol addictions. Felson"s fallacies about crime: the dramatic fallacy. Media images of crime lead us to believe that crime if far more dramatic that is really. The murderer and the criminal justice profession both become dramatized (ie. sherlock holmes factor) Most crime investigations are boring & mundane made up of paperwork and phone is calls: the ingenuity fallacy. The fallacy presumes the criminal is a lot more clever than they actually are. Felson argues that much of the crime that comes to the attention of the criminal justice system is not committed through daring or ingenuity, but as a result of opportunity. Crime is ordinary & is committed by ordinary people: movies & tv make criminals appear to be fancy (ie. catwoman) Stopwatch gang (best bank robbery: systematic way of robbing banks (ie. timing, location, member placement, the age fallacy much older than they are.
