If masculinity is normal, then schur argues that: even when they are normal, women are deviant . Feminists (and now many other theorists) argue that we live in a patriarchal society. System of masculine domination: gender traits associated with masculinity are highly valued, those associated with femininity are valued. Masculine: power, strength, control, aggression, reason, culture. Feminine: beauty, weakness, nurturing, passivity, emotionality, nature. Women are perceived and reacted to at least initially, and often primarily, in terms of their femaleness . Categorical devaluation means treating people as objects . Sexual objecti cation is the primary process of the subjection of women. 4 points focus on point 2: objects of sexual attention, cultural preoccupation with women"s looks, women as sexual property, women as objects in sexual behaviour itself. De nitions of female deviance are so extensive that virtually every woman become perceived o ender of some kind.
