Focus: the underdog! (far more openly than interpreive theories) Captitalism via exploitation: it keeps them under while upper class builds on top, it creates winners or losers because of money (this is why conlict/criical theorist get into conlict with capitalist) What critical and conflict theories do is expose these structures and systems. Emphasis: formal social control: law enforcement/ punishment/ jusice/ etc. Conception of social order: social order is maintained through management of conlict between various groups: people with powerful posiions has more power to control. Concept of society: divided into various groups with compeing interests. Dominant group: the one with the most power and authority: these are the people who make the rules (important people)* Praxis: to combine knowledge gained by science research with acivism. Praxiological research is geared at the analysis, exposure, and resistance to oppressive social structures and systems .
