Sociology as the study of social facts, indicators of social facts. Chapter 7: every way of acting capable of exercising on the individual ands extrenal influence, have been used as indicators, they are external to the individual and they influence the individuals behaviour. To have moral individuals the culture must be moral. Attachment to society since society is the source of our morality. Involves autonomy (sense of individual responsibility for our actions): collective conscience: totality of beliefs and sentiments come onto the average citizen of the same society, ex. Strong collective conscience, refers to the beliefs and sentiments. Repressive laws because the people are strongly involved in the moral system: advanced society: emerged with the growth of the division of labour. Characterized by organic solidarity (dissimilarity of the individuals). Weak collective-conscience: durkhei(cid:373)"s co(cid:374)cept of a(cid:374)o(cid:373)y, anomy: normlessness. A condition in which society provides little moral guidance to the members.
