A. Draw major lines ļ¬rst (contour the main objects of the piece) - then add detail!
B. Experiment with darker and lighter lines (weights of line) by pressing harder or
lighter on your pencil while drawing (this can help 1. better identify an object 2.
make an object stand out or 3. more clearly demonstrate the objectās position
relative to the objects around it)!
C. Be aware of hairy lines!
In-tutorial project!
ā¢Use contour to draw the subject matter in front of you (in this case = a few crumpled
leaf bags and the fabric that they are placed on)!
ā¢TOOLS NEEDED: drawing board & clips, newsprint pad, graphite pencils, pencil
sharpener, vinyl eraser!
