Ties them to the home (gilman - housework) Supports capitalist labour force (children as future workers, rest for adult male workers) Women"s "reproductive work was devalued because it was economically unproductive, which simply meant unpaid" Engels: oppression could be eliminated through economic independence from men. So: women should (be permitted to) get jobs. Gilman: housework should be don"t by paid professionals. Le challenging women"s economic dependence on men, but not challenging capitalism itself.
