Use of internet in development and growth of the transgender movement: tool for activists, allows activists and organizations to be more productive. Difficult for transgender people to risk their lives by coming out. Internet has allowed people to educate themselves and others to make contacts and to organized to having appear in public as a trans person reducing the risk to which individuals must expose themselves in order to organize. There are trans movements which are tied together by identity and issue and separated by race, class, nationality, goal, and surgery status. The movements consist of mostly white, transsexual and transgendered activists, with participants with stable economic situation. Golden age : short-lived, gender clinics in universities: john hopkins ended their sex-reassignment surgery program system of transsexual medical services crumbled. Before the internet, trans people were reliant on the medical profession and the few trans support organizations for information.
