People think of sexuality outside of history and private something to do with oneself a part from the public. Sexuality is dependent (in the way we experience, think and relate to it) on history. We tend to think of sexuality as ahistroical. Sexuality as all human activity is embedded in the historical. Erotic practice identities and sexual acts have signified differently at different times. In the classical era, sexual relations between a male athenian citizen and a male youth were fully legit. Homosexuality was built into the everyday life. Shows how sexuality can change over time today this would not be acceptable. It is more productive to think of it as layered rather than linear. Teleology idea of moving towards an end point history is moving towards something that shows progress of human condition. To against teleology is to argue for archeology.
