Academic essay"s = formal, utilitarian tone; written to argue or persuade rather than entertain; writer"s voice isn"t quite apparent (no real sense of their personality) In academic essays you try to look for passages/evidence that support your thesis. Online: content mills, web only and magazine"s online content. We discuss this at the end of the semester. Newspapers: local, municipal, provincial and national some international. National: the globe and main, national post, daily newspapers. Community newspapers: queen charlotte observer, the londoner often printed weekly. The magazine you find at the newsstands, aimed at the general public: yes you will find a chatelaine for women and specifically working. Canadian moms, but it"s a general interest reader anyone can pick it up and the content is understandable. The writer"s idea must fit the editors magazine: number one reason ideas get rejected it"s the wrong idea for the magazine"s readership.
