Production companies: any independent corporation, group or premises (house) that creates original tv content, from concept to production . They are free to work with any studio or broadcaster and have multiple projects ongoing at any given time. Studios: in us only, it is the house exclusivity attached to a single broadcaster that provides everything from story concepts to physical locations for filming. They are the gatekeeper for series ideas before they get to broadcaster and the liaison between a production company and broadcaster: canada does not have studios. Broadcasters: rare cases, writers can be attached to networks for existing series (news or magazine shows that are produced in house) Showrunner: (us term: an executive producer attached to a studio who writes, casts, produces and has control over a production, showrunner must work with a studio. In canada, it would be lead producer or something.
