Nonmaterial (symbolic) culture: norm: accepted way to do something, enforced by sanctions. Material culture: passed down through generations, shared by social group, have similar way of life, acting, view of world. Ethnocentrism: judging another culture based on their own culture, ex. Judging hindu"s on their cow practices or reverence. Cultural relativism: judging another culture on its own terms employ sociological imagination. Urban legends: false stories, believed to be true, recent past/ nearby location, word of mouth, internet, easy to relate to. Sociological analysis: fears that characterize urban legends. Contracting aids from one night stand: cultural attitudes.
