Rather than studying natives, the film was studying whites as participation observation. In the film, there is not much media about white reality: not much media about natives. We have a lot of stereotypes about natives. What seems normal for them is seemed as weird for us. Film: narrator said she knew how they felt with a similar situation *very different situation+ reality: we say we understand them but we truly do not. Govt hasn"t done much to help the natives makes decisions without understanding what they really want. Film: said that lottery and soccer = religion and rituals (tribes = team supporters) reality: they are just things we enjoy doing we jump to conclusions about native"s activities.
