Characteristics and types of DISC assessment
Emotional Intelligence: Do you understand and can you
recognize and regulate your emotions in order to forward
your success.
 Example: Captain Sullenberger, US airways crash in the
Hudson River
Was able to e-ectively control his emotions to land on
the river
IQ cannot be developed past age 17 (static). Personality
cannot be changed either, as it is also static. EQi can be
changed, because it is not static. EQ increases until you are
approximately 50 years of age
Key parts of EQi: Capabilities, competencies and skills
in4uencing EQ
Above in that: perception, meaning, regulate
The combination of the other composite scales contributes to
stress management, which in turn contributes to the other
composite scales
Self Regard: knowing strengths and weaknesses vs self
esteem (im great)
Assertiveness (able to speak up without being threatening)
like aggressive
Empathy (being able to understand feelings) vs taking on
feelings –sympathy
Impulse control (making decisions without thinking) vs
spontaneity (can sometimes be fun, and ususally has more
positive consequences)
