BU288 Lecture Notes - Lecture 7: Belongingness, Interactional Justice, Goal Setting
Document Summary
The extent to which persistent effort is directed toward a goal: the basic characteristics of motivation, effort, persistence, direction, goals, goal specific, might be motivated to go to one class vs. the other. In the work context, when we say someone is motivated, it usually is meant that they are working hard towards a goal: effort: strength of a person"s work-related behavior. Effort manifests itself differently in different jobs, but it is basically the extent to which someone is working diligently. For example, an athlete who runs until she collapses is putting forth a great deal of effort. Ideally, it should be in a direction that helps further organizational goals. For example, the manager who works late every night is demonstrating a lot of persistent effort, but if she is working on a minor issue instead of an important organizational objective, then she is not especially motivated.
