BU418 Lecture Notes - Lecture 9: Organizational Chart, Succession Planning, Demand Forecasting
Document Summary
Workers must be obtained from a source that is either internal (current employees) or external (individuals not employed by the organization). Usually they use a combination of both but organizations typically prefer internal because: Current employees are already socialized to the norms, rules, and procedures of your organization. The employer possesses detailed knowledge (as listed in the hrms skill inventories) of the employees performance and ksas over time (work history and experience) Hr supply: the source of workers to meet demand requirements, obtained either internally (current employees) or from external agencies, or both. Many of the methods we used for hr demand forecasting work for hr supply. Trend analysis (how people have been sourced in the past) Delphi/nominal group (supply can be discussed in addition to demand) The first step in supply analysis is an examination of the number and capabilities of current employees.
