Reading, sound, motion and light, static, distortion of picture…) - English language is ½ redundant - Brain: Information source - Message = Thought - Sound = Signal, ear decodes it and sends it - Smoke signals and hand signals - Can understand other people through similarities; don’t need same language - Communication links any organism together; holds society together - A symbol is both individual and anonymous - Communication through symbol
