Post-modern period: economy of scope, segmented markets, people trying to manipulate wants/needs, focus on popular culture, globalization/outsourcing of production, niche markets. Different kinds of things were produced for different market niches: these kind of changes in production were led by peoples tastes. Consumers demand for fast-fashion" imitations of high-end designers at a cheaper price causes stores to stock their stores with these kinds of clothes.
