Patterns of women and crime: late nineteenth and early 20th century. How people were allowed to conduct themselves in society were very different from what they are now. If you were a woman, men could make you lose everything through sexual misconduct. If you refuse you could be held accountable and if you accept you could also be in trouble with reputation and future employments. People were not necessarily employed regularly, this was especially diffi(cid:272)ult for (cid:449)o(cid:373)e(cid:374) as they (cid:449)ere dee(cid:373)ed (cid:858)less (cid:449)orthy(cid:859). The (cid:271)est (cid:449)ay to sur(cid:448)i(cid:448)e as a (cid:449)o(cid:373)a(cid:374) (cid:449)as based off race and religion. Moral codes of conduct varied from place to place. This changed however, when urban and rural areas began to emerge. When queen victoria came into the throne in 1837, this sparked a social attitude changed that slo(cid:449)ly (cid:272)ha(cid:374)ged.
