Document Summary

Look up food with history google: food legends. Show how it is made show different ways if possible. Watching how our food is made can be part of the denaturalization process. Include my questions within my presentation instead of all of them at the end. Have sheet with writing on it not all on slide. Have interactive part of presentation fortune cookie example. Relate course terms to presentation, taboos, diaspora etc. imagined communities. Answer my own discussion questions after everyone else answers. Food is a key marker of class, in terms of eating habits, food security and access to resources. People express their class norms and identity through foodways; people are also labelled into class categories according to their foodways. We make a series of complex assumptions based on the food choices and practices of others; class (and the hegemonic norms therein) is a major part of these assumptions.
