The pedagogical opportunity of situating race" within cgce can be strived toward by: (1) moving beyond race" as a fixed identity category / something independent of ethnicity and culture. As diverse peoples interact with greater frequency, new possibilities for conflict and cooperation. Public schooling, a project of the nation-state, contributes to young people"s abilities to negotiate conflict, as well as to cooperate with one another to create a just and peaceful society.
