GG250 Lecture 8: GESC291 Week 8
Document Summary
Reading review: modelling energy systems for developing countries. Energy use seems to be a growing trend in developing countries yet the effects remain unsuccessful. Developing countries differ very much from developed countries yet the same energy models are being used in the industrialized areas and the developing countries. The problem is both environments are in different positions, for example developing countries have issues with the supply of resources, different stances in the economy, poor performance of the power sector, etc. Energy systems needs to be altered and catered more toward developing countries as this will help energy models explore the future of developing and developed countries. Currently, the energy models are moreso helpful for industrialized areas because that"s where it began in the 1970s. One key insight i got from this article was how shocking it was to see that researchers or whom ever conducted this thought that the energy models would have the same effect in a developing country.
