1990- : eastern economies were inefficient and dated. Ukraine and how with their new found independence they found it very difficult to cut all ties with russia. Rising rates of unemployment, predominantly among women as well as seniors (pensions disappearing) No social funds in combination with unemployment led to devastation. Added challenge to the east was privatization as well as neoliberalism. The stress is on the individual and questioning of the state. This ideology develops in between the collapse of communism and rise of capitalism. Ukraine and russia bus system is privatized because there is no money for it; a similar example to what happen is uber.
