Rome can be the city, can be the heartland or italy, and it can be the entire empire. Rome is essential founded by two guys and the city attracts guys and as a result its population doesn"t grow because there are no women. Women are eventually brought in against their will. Built around the tiber river and is a crossroads of traffic and trade. Roman republic was established in 509 bce. A constitution set a series of checks and balances in order to separate the power. With this though, there is still a class system with the elite abusing the poor, even in myths. Old money vs. people that come from nowhere. The romans are very stubborn, they will fight to the death for what they consider to be. With iron, not with gold, rome buys her freedom . The second punic war is where hannibal barca comes in.
