KP161 Lecture Notes - Lecture 14: Motor Skill, Comparator, Virtual Reality
Document Summary
Lecture 14 chapter 6: the learner: pre-instruction. Determine the cost-benefit tradeoff (get the most bang for your buck) Get to know the learner (what type of learner they are, what learning strategies work best for them) Point out similarities and differences between skills. Make sure skills that you are building off of have been well learned. Consider the skill level of the learner. Familiarity with past motor skill abilities: first step is to determine if similarities exist between #1 (fundamental movement pattern) and then focus on the others. Effectiveness of a drill should be measured based on the amount of positive transfer. Purpose of any drill is to ensure there is a transfer of learning to functional context: don"t waste time doing a drill that is irrelevant to what they will do in a game or performance situation. All past experiences influence ability to learn new skills. Past experiences can be used as comparator for new skill.
