Description
NO101- Lecture November 14, 2012 Canadian Cinema and Music **Class Discussion - Canadian film looks like a foreign film and can be explored the same way - Consider production values, budgets and what money can buy for a film - Low budgets sometimes become cult classics ex. Hardcore Logo, Napoleon Dynamite - Canadian cinema relies on government grants (no market in Canada) – money flows into USA o Films funded by government promote Canadian identity/ national myths - Flashpoint (CTV show) o shows both in Canada and USA o Is a Canadian show o Filmed in Toronto but doesn’t really discuss Toronto? – an issue with some people  Not a “Canadian” show?  Canadian money financing the show but not telling a “Canadian” story 
