There was an idea that in order for it to defend itself, Japan needed to move in the direction of autarky - didn"t reply on trade with other parts of japan, it wanted industrial inputs in its own control. By 1942, japan controlled a very large part of the world. Japan lost the war and by august 15th of 1945, japan had surrendered. It was defeated in sea and the pacific primarily by the americans but also by nationalist and communist movements in sea. Dropping od the atomic bombs on hiroshima and nagasaki that led to the end of the war. By the end of the war, the us became the dominant power in ea. Cold war in ea was hotter than it was in any parts of the world. Then a full on war - communist party win this war.
