The fact that something is democratic does not necessarily mean that it is right . The constitution is the supreme law o canada, and any law is inconsistent with the provisions of the constitution is, to the extent of the inconsistency, of no force or effect . Constitution: a set of rules that authoritatively establishes both of the structure and the fundamental principles of the political regime. Political regime : refers to the form of government and the underlying political principles that provide the legitimate basis for that form of government. Constitutional functions : to establish which of ces or institutions will exercises certain forms of political authority (legislative, administrative etc) Instituions: regular patterns of behaviour that provide stability and regularity in social (political) lied ; sometime these patterns are given organizational form with speci c rules of membership and behaviour, socially approved power and legitimacy. Constitutional forms/sources: conventions - a constitutional rule based on an implicit political agreement.
