A statement that is necessary true is a statement that cant be false under any circumstances. Ie. x=x, all bachelors are unmarried men, no triangles are circles, all triangles are three sided. Under no circumstance can this ever be false i. e. law of identity. It is not the case that x=x it is not that case that this is untrue i. e. some triangles are not three sided. Statements who"s true vales change from circumstance to circumstance. not true or false. Necessity is determined in terms of possibility- necessity is related to possibility. If you can imagine contradiction to be true than its contingent. Need to understand above argument in order to understand natural theorists legal positivists. Is a species of what is called moral realism. Moral realism is the opposite of the non cognitivist view. They are true regardless of what any other person says. Error theory- ethical statements dont have cognitive value.
