Document Summary

She asks whether there is anything wrong with prostitution when the usual coercive practices associated with it are not present. Many feminists have regarded sex work as the most obvious form of patriarchal domination, while others have viewed sex work as an important service. Davidson thinks there are flaws on both sides of the debate about the morality of sex work. The liberal view of property has been greatly influenced by john locke who says, every man has a property in his own person. This nobody has any right to but himself. The labor of his body, and the work of his hands, we may say, are properly his (134). This can be contrasted with kant"s view, which is that we cannot view our bodies as property because they represent a part of our self, which cannot be treated as a thing, which is how we treat property.
